Parents and students: During the pandemic I am tutoring online using Zoom or Google Hangouts.
My name is Bill Jackson, and I'm an SAT/ACT tutor and study skills specialist. My job is to teach the most important test-taking skills, help students refine them, and make tutorial interesting so that students will be motivated to do the practice required. I've been doing this work for 15 years, and I love it.
Private tutoring is by far the most effective way to get your best score on the SAT or ACT. You'll need more than answer explanations. You should have all essentials: how to approach each section of the test with a clear, doable strategy; how to clear away distractions, manage time, and handle stress; how to chart your progress in practice and see that you are "putting it together" as test time draws near. Your experience should give you confidence, and not feel dull or forced. If tutorial isn't a little fun, you'll be less likely to practice hard.
If you call me, you will not get jargon, prattle, or scare tactics, and you will not be besieged with agreements to sign. What you will get -- if you take my tutorial -- is me and me alone, teaching your student at the library and not in a conference room.
And if you hire me as a general tutor or study skills coach, I will leave no stone unturned in trying to teach what is most helpful to your student in the long run: skills, habits, and ways of thinking. These include time management, advanced reading comprehension, and writing (MFA, published fiction writer).
Please call for a free consultation. Either you will get me, or I will return your call within 24 hours. The experience will be hassle-free; it will be the best consultation you'll ever get.
In the meantime, take a moment to read testimonials, learn about services offered, see credentials, or check out my Tutor's Blog.
Expertise.com ranked me among the top test prep tutors in the DC Metro area for 2018 and 2019.
You will find me listed among the top 10 private tutors in Bethesda by Google and yelp. At last check, I was one of only two individuals on the lists.
Test prep tip: see if you can approach the SAT/ACT as if it were a game or puzzle. If you cultivate a playful approach, you will learn faster.
Parents: consider the idea, radical though it may be, that test prep can be fun. If it's fun, the results are likely to be very good.
Before the pandemic, I tutored at Little Falls Library, 5501 Massachusetts Avenue, Bethesda, MD 20816, AND Bethesda Library, 7400 Arlington Road, Bethesda, MD 20814.
